Delivery incl. AI
A vendor proposes a six-minute AI chat to auto-badge a concrete-cutting crew as ready for silica work and says it can replace supervised practice and the site's competent person. You are the CSP: match the delivery method to the objective and separate digital support from field responsibility.
Updated . Independent CSP-11 practice. Not BCSP-endorsed. No pass guarantee.
Decision rule
Delivery method must fit the objective. AI can draft; it cannot certify competence.
Classroom, field, simulator, micro-learning, AI support — pick by risk and skill type.
In 20 seconds
- Delivery method must fit the objective.
- AI can draft; it cannot certify competence.
- Delivery mode matches objectives: OJT, classroom, simulation, CBT, microlearning.
- AI tools can support content drafting and tutoring — humans own accuracy and risk decisions.
How to apply Delivery incl. AI
THEORY: High-energy skills need supervised practice. AI content still needs an SME check and an evaluation. CALC: None. FIELD: Vendor offers an AI confined-space course with no meter in hand. Keep the practical; use AI only for knowledge refresh. ASSESS: Auto-generated quiz as the only assessment for isolation skill is the trap.
Worked case
Wrong first move: Replace the practical with a chatbot. Correct move: Match method to the objective; human signs competence.
Why the rule holds
Related: 74, 77, 131.
Same rule, different setting
A vendor offers an AI chatbot to “replace OJT and the competent person” on a confined-space job. The LMS will auto-badge anyone who chats for six minutes. You are the CSP. The question is which delivery method can actually carry the objective — and what AI must not pretend to be.
On a busy jobsite, delivery incl ai shows up when schedule pressure sells a permit, rotation, or PPE package while design still can change. Match method to objective: knowledge can use classroom/CBT/AI explainers; skill needs OJT, simulation, or observed practice; high-hazard tasks need a qualified person, not a chatbot badge. Discriminate the open row before you laminate another card.
Picture / model
Choose delivery by the behavior the learner must demonstrate: digital tools can support explanation and rehearsal, while safety-critical judgment and physical skills need realistic practice, feedback, and appropriate human oversight.
Exam traps
Original SafePath contrasts for Delivery incl. AI. These are study traps, not recalled BCSP items.
| Trap | Correct read |
|---|---|
| CBT / AI explainer | Knowledge, translation, drill — not observed skill |
| OJT / simulation | Skill delivery with a qualified coach |
| Classroom | Good for shared why / legal; weak as the only skill proof |
| Competent person | Named human role — not a language model |
| Badge / roster | Attendance ≠ performance |
Field move
Field decision: Need observed practice (OJT/sim). CBT can teach the why; it cannot be the only evidence of the seal check..

Objective: perform a user seal check. Delivery proposed: CBT only. Status?
Best action: Need observed practice (OJT/sim). CBT can teach the why; it cannot be the only evidence of the seal check.
Why: Evaluate the best response. Match delivery to the objective. Knowledge can use an explainer. A safety-critical skill needs observed practice and a qualified person. An AI badge is not that demonstration. Objective: perform a user seal check. Delivery proposed: CBT only. Status? The best selection i…

OJT is “follow Joe.” Joe teaches two-hand recapping. Issue?
Best action: Unstructured OJT copies bad practice. Structure: objective, coach standard, checklist, feedback — then Joe’s experience is filtered.
Why: Evaluate the best response. Match delivery to the objective. Knowledge can use an explainer. A safety-critical skill needs observed practice and a qualified person. An AI badge is not that demonstration. OJT is “follow Joe.” Joe teaches two-hand recapping. Issue? The best selection is Unstructured…

Knowledge-only objective: locate the SDS QR code. Delivery?
Best action: CBT/AI explainer with a performance check can be enough for a knowledge/location objective. Don’t overbuild — and don’t underbuild skills.
Why: Evaluate the best response. Match delivery to the objective. Knowledge can use an explainer. A safety-critical skill needs observed practice and a qualified person. An AI badge is not that demonstration. Knowledge-only objective: locate the SDS QR code. Delivery? The best selection is CBT/AI explai…

| AI content is used unverified for LOTO | SME-verify before delivery |
| only video for a hands-on crane skill | add supervised practice |
