Item design, not a dump
CSP exam questions
CSP items are four-option, best-answer questions. Many stems look like they want a permit, a training slide, or PPE. The scored move is often a higher remaining control, a design change, or a calculation with the right unit.
Patterns that show up on CSP-11
- Hierarchy traps. A polished procedure is still administrative. If substitution or engineering is still available, it usually wins.
- Prevention through Design. If the line is still on paper, redesign beats add-on PPE.
- Calculation stems. TRIR/DART, TWA, Q=VA, noise dose, NIOSH lifting. Units and rounding beat formula memorization.
- Program vs. scene. Domain 2 items ask which management action closes the gap, not which poster to hang.
- Incomplete information. The exam rewards the next professional action, not waiting for a perfect data set.
How SafePath writes practice items
Each educational item has a learning objective, a defensible best answer, and distractors tied to real error codes (hierarchy, unit, stem, formula). Explanations point back to the matching class. That is the opposite of a harvested bank: you leave with a topic to reopen, not a memorized letter.
Frequently asked questions
- How many questions are on the CSP exam?
- The current sitting is 200 multiple-choice items in 5.5 hours. BCSP may include pretest items. Recheck the live candidate bulletin before you schedule.
- Can I study from recalled CSP exam questions?
- No. Harvested or recalled items violate BCSP rules and teach you the wrong skill: recognizing a stem instead of selecting a control. SafePath authors original educational items.
- What do CSP questions actually test?
- Applied judgment: highest remaining control, program design, risk evaluation, emergency decisions, environmental and occupational-health calculations, and training effectiveness — at the published CSP-11 weights.
