CSP Exam Day Guide

Independent study notes for a Pearson VUE CSP sitting. SafePath does not administer the exam. Verify every rule against the live BCSP candidate bulletin.

Exam-day sequence

  1. Confirm the live candidate bulletin. CSP exam-day rules sit with BCSP and Pearson VUE. Check the current calculator, ID, and break policy before you travel.
  2. Practice the on-screen calculator. Pearson VUE generally provides an on-screen TI-30XS-class calculator. Do not plan on a personal calculator. Use DEG, not RAD, and learn the fraction-decimal toggle.
  3. Expect a closed book. A whiteboard is typically provided. There is no formula sheet. Formulas often sit in the stem. Some items may be pretest and unscored.
  4. Pace, flag, and round. Two hundred items in 5.5 hours. Flag and return. Pick the closest rounded value rather than hunting a perfect match.
  5. Break ties with hierarchy. If two answers both seem right, take the higher remaining control, the system change, or the design change. A polished procedure is still administrative.
