CSP certification in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan and India
The CSP has one set of BCSP rules worldwide. Candidates in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan and India apply to BCSP online, and sit the exam at a Pearson test center. BCSP does not offer online or remote proctored exams. This page covers what is different when you apply from outside the United States. SafePath is an independent study platform, not BCSP and not endorsed by BCSP.

Test center or online proctoring?
Test center. BCSP's Complete Guide says plainly that BCSP does not offer online or remote proctored exams. The CSP is delivered by computer at Pearson test centers, with live proctors. BCSP says Pearson has hundreds of test centers around the world. The only other route is BCSP Onsite Exam Delivery, which an organization arranges for its own staff.
BCSP does not publish a list of cities. Check which Pearson centers near you offer BCSP exams on Pearson's BCSP page or in the scheduler in your BCSP profile, and allow for travel if the nearest one is in another city or country.

Testing outside your country of citizenship
Many HSE professionals in the Gulf work outside their home country. BCSP's Complete Guide says that if you test in a country that is not your country of citizenship, you must bring a passport, and the name must match your BCSP record. BCSP also requires government ID with a photo and signature, and Pearson may take a palm vein scan at check-in.

Degrees and credentials from the region
BCSP requires at least a bachelor's degree in any field. Degrees from outside the United States are evaluated for U.S. equivalency during the application. You also need four years of SH&E experience, at least half of it preventative, and one BCSP qualified credential. Several on BCSP's list are common in the Gulf and South Asia:
- NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow of IOSH (CMIOSH, CFIOSH)
- Diploma/Certificate in Industrial Safety issued by the State Government Departments Boards of Technical Education, Government of India (AICTE)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
See the full BCSP list on the eligibility page.
Why the CSP matters for Gulf HSE roles
- An internationally accredited credential. All BCSP certifications are accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to the ISO/IEC 17024 personnel certification standard.
- The same exam everywhere. A CSP earned in Riyadh, Dubai, Doha, Karachi or Mumbai meets the same BCSP education, experience and exam requirements as one earned in the United States.
- Publicly verifiable. Employers can confirm a holder in BCSP's Credential Holder Directory at directory.bcsp.org.
- International practitioners. In BCSP's salary survey (salaries as of 1 January 2023), 6% of employed respondents were located outside the U.S. and Canada, and the locations they supported outside the U.S. were most commonly the Middle East (57%) and Asia (32%).
BCSP's survey does not break out salaries for individual Gulf countries, so SafePath does not quote one. See CSP salary: is it worth it? for the figures BCSP does publish.
