How the NEBOSH Diploma leads to the CSP
BCSP's CSP page lists the NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety among its qualified credentials. NEBOSH states that its Level 6 International Diploma (the replacement for the older International Diploma) is recognised by BCSP as a Qualified Equivalent Program meeting the requirement for the Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP) designation leading to the CSP, and that applications must be made within one year of achieving the Diploma.
The Diploma does not replace the CSP's degree requirement. BCSP requires at least a bachelor's degree and states there is no waiver of the academic requirement. You also need four years of qualifying experience.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the CSP better than the NEBOSH Diploma?
- They are different things. The CSP is a BCSP certification earned by exam after meeting degree, experience and credential requirements, and it must be renewed. The NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma is a taught, Ofqual-accredited qualification assessed by an assignment and two case studies.
- Does the NEBOSH Diploma count toward the CSP?
- Yes. BCSP lists the NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety as a qualified credential for the CSP. NEBOSH states that its Level 6 International Diploma is recognised by BCSP as a Qualified Equivalent Program meeting the Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP) requirement, with applications made within one year of achieving the Diploma.
- Can I get the CSP with only a NEBOSH Diploma and no degree?
- No. BCSP requires at least a bachelor's degree for the CSP, and its Complete Guide states there is no waiver of the academic requirement. The NEBOSH Diploma can satisfy the qualified-credential requirement, not the degree requirement.
- Is the NEBOSH Diploma an exam like the CSP?
- No. NEBOSH assesses the Level 6 International Diploma through a workplace-based assignment (DI1) and two scenario-based case studies (DI2, DI3). The CSP is a single 200-item multiple-choice exam at a Pearson test center.
- Which is recognised in the Gulf?
- Both bodies cite recognition that reaches the region. BCSP certifications are ANAB-accredited to ISO/IEC 17024. NEBOSH states that its International Diploma aligns with the Level 7 qualification requirement in the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre's Qudorat OSH Competency Framework.
