What is the CSP passing score?

BCSP does not post a fixed CSP passing score. It describes a Passing Score Activity, in which panels of subject-matter experts evaluate the questions on the exam to determine an appropriate passing score. BCSP's fee schedule also notes that passing scores are subject to change without advance notice. Be wary of any site that quotes an exact CSP cut score.

How CSP scoring works

  • One total, not per-domain cut-offs. BCSP's Complete Guide says scoring well in one subject area can compensate for a weaker score in another.
  • No penalty for wrong answers. Only correct answers count toward the passing score, so answer every item.
  • Some items are unscored. Roughly 12% are beta questions, mixed in and not identified.
  • One best answer. Each item has four options and one correct answer.
  • Result on the day. Official results are available as soon as you submit.

How difficult is the CSP exam?

On BCSP's own numbers, roughly one candidate in three did not pass in the 2024 reporting period. BCSP's Complete Guide lists 200 multiple-choice items in 5.5 hours, closed book, with an on-screen calculator. The domains are weighted unevenly, so weak spots in Domains 1 and 2 (25% each) cost the most. Because one domain can offset another, broad preparation across all seven domains beats perfecting one.

Find your weak domains with a blueprint-weighted practice test, rehearse the full sitting with a timed mock exam, and plan your hours with the study-time guide. SafePath cannot guarantee a pass.
